Annual Horseracing Fundraiser for the Turks and Caicos AIDS Awareness Foundation to Fund Edward C. Gartland Youth Centre.
Tuesday, January 12, 2010 – The fifth annual “Turf and Surf” night sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers and Beaches Resort & Spa will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Beaches Resort & Spa. This popular event has become a key fundraiser with all proceeds going to the Turks and Caicos AIDS Awareness Foundation (TCAAF) for use at the Edward C. Gartland Youth Centre. The Youth Centre is open six days a week to all kids between the ages of 12 and 18 and provides a save environment for them to spend their free time. The Centre gives kids access to a computer lab, homework help, counseling and a wide range of extra-curricular activities, all free of charge and made possible solely through private donations.
As usual, the evening will feature the excitement of live horse racing announced by Mr. Mark Johnson, an internationally renowned horseracing commentator who recently called the Kentucky Derby.
Tickets are $150 per person (or $1,500 for a table of ten) and include a three-course dinner, open bar and the option to bet and win money on the horse races shown on the big screen TVs around the room and called “live” by Johnson. Any person or company who sponsors a table will have their name/logo placed within the evening’s race card. In addition to buying a table, individuals and companies can buy individual races - each race is being offered for a cost of $500. Interested parties are asked to contact the organizers as soon as possible as there are limited seats and races available. For information, please e-mail or call Sarah Haywood on 332-0096 or at
