Ways You Can Help
There are several ways you can help the TCAAF - from donating your time, to making a financial gift - it all helps!
|
| Events / Fundraising |
Fundraising is a critical component of the TCAAF and when the organization was founded, it identified several major events such as the Champagne Reception, the annual Jadot Cup Golf Tournament and a Wine and Cheese Tasting Party to help raise funds and consciousness in the community.
The TCAAF's first Champagne Reception fundraiser was generously supported by all sectors of the community and raised just over $16,000.
Since then its members have worked closely with the National AIDS Program, the Minister of Health, the Hon. Floyd Hall and Former Minister of Social Services Hon. Karen Delancy to implement fund-raising events and educational programs and identify the best ways to serve the communities of Turks & Caicos.
Some of the funds raised have gone to the local HIV/AIDS Orphan Fund and the AIDS Hospice. TCAAF made a cash contribution to the HIV/AIDS Orphan Fund, which helps to feed orphans of people who have died of AIDS and donated items to the AIDS Hospice to help make the life of its residents more comfortable. Items donated included a 19" TV with upgraded cable programming as well as Christmas goodies and other personal items.
The TCAAF donated $10,000 to the National AIDS Coordinator for the second phase of the Youth Summit The goal of the Summit was to create peer support in the High Schools. Approx. 60 young Adults were brought to Grand Turks from all the islands to take training for peer support, provided by trainers brought in from Trinidad.
Because of the outstanding results of the TCAAFs' efforts, a benefactor approached the group to help build a Youth Centre. This would be a meeting place for the Rapport group as well as a safe place for the youth in Providenciales.
A Gala dinner was held at Beaches Resort November 20, 2004, to raise further funds and to bring focus to World AIDS Day on December 1st 2004. |
